Welcome to the Council’s fourth edition of Inform. As I now approach my final few weeks as Chairperson, I reflect on the course of my term in office and the work and dedication of all my fellow Councillors and all the Council Officers. It has been a great honour to have been entrusted with the role of First Citizen and I have thoroughly enjoyed my time meeting so many wonderful and inspirational people along the way. Since the last edition of Inform, the Council has progressed several important initiatives, one of which aims to reduce the quantity of waste going to landfill. The pilot food waste collection service will be scheduled across the entire district and will help to meet our statutory recycling targets and reduce the financial burden on the Council. Another significant achievement is the Community Plan, which was officially launched on 29 March 2017. Produced in partnership with key stakeholders in the business, community and voluntary and statutory sectors and following extensive public consultation, the Community Plan sets out a vision for the district and outlines the key outcomes that are to be achieved. Fermanagh and Omagh District Council seeks to continually offer a high-quality, value for money service to you the ratepayer. The biannual publication of Inform is one of the main ways the Council communicates with you. However, effective communication is a two-way process so we encourage everyone to make their views known to the Council on any of the initiatives outlined in this publication or indeed on any aspect of the work of the Council. I hope that you enjoy reading this edition of Inform.
